My theme in life and art has always been "Every Mark Matters" and my goal is to impart the inspiration of that statement to every person I instruct and with whom I work.
Art is an energy that is alive and all around us. It comes through the artist or the medium and when a viewer acknowledges or responds to that energy it is one of the greatest rewards
Self-taught artist with much learning through workshops, seminars and classes with instructors from the Emily Carr College of Art and Design. Emily Carr College of Art and design Outreach program. Thompson Rivers University Art Program, Kamloops Art Gallery workshop programs.
Some of my greatest living mentors have been Canadian Artist Brian Scott, from Courtney B.C. David Langivin from Kamloops B.C and Royden Josephson, from Ashcroft B.C.
Historic Artist's who have influenced my work are Monet, and the Impressioists, The Expressionists, Georgio O'Keefe, Dahli and the Surrealist movement.
I paint because I have too! I can not imagine my life without it. I am fascinated by colour and design, I also love line - the way a line moves and flows, just like our lives. A single line starts my work, and I follow it through the piece. The piece can be an oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolour painting, or my handpainted silks.
. I find working in different mediums keeps me fresher and keener as an artist. I am a very tactile person so moving through the different mediums is a great solution for this. I am also interested in many genres in art so my work is constantly changing growing and flowing. I have been doing Art all my life.
Owning and running my studio practice, along with the teaching that I do keeps my Artistic voice fed. I am also a Certified Reiki Master Teacher and I find this to be very complimentary to artistic creation. They are both energies that flow through the body and manifest as they need too.
